The Homewood Arts Council welcomes Jon Langford (The Mekons, The Waco Brothers) for an intimate solo performance on Monday, February 13 at Rabid Brewing.

This PRIVATE EVENT requires tickets purchased in advanced. Tickets will not be available at the door.

Tickets can be purchased here.

This is a General Admission event; seating is first come, first serve. Capacity will be limited.

Doors open 6:30 PM. Event begins at 7:30 PM.

Opening the evening with an improv comedy set will be South of Chi Productions.

If I Were A Bird …

What if you were a bird? We invite you to show us! Join this community-wide art exhibit. Write a poem, paint or sketch, make a sculpture or snap a pic! Anything goes.

 

The Homewood Arts Council is joining forces with the Homewood Science Center to celebrate its All About Birds Citizen Science program through art. This new initiative is another way for families and individuals to participate. Starting the first week in January, we will fill the Science Center's window on Ridge with your creations, showcasing our community's creativity. We are looking forward to a great flock of art to stroll by to see ... what fun to have your art on display for all of Homewood-Flossmoor to view!

 

Drop off your art to the Homewood Science Center's 2018 Ridge Road location on January 9th or 23rd between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Be sure to add your name and contact info to your piece.

Masks will be sold beginning the week of November 15th at UpsaDaisy Boutique and Loulou Belle in Homewood. Adult and kid sizes are available for $10 each. The proceeds from mask sales will go to the Homewood Arts Council's educational grant and scholarship fund. Stop in to shop these local spots and pick up one of these original designs to support our community artists!

Mask Design Contest

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, our community has been diligent about wearing masks in public places. The Homewood Arts Council is sponsoring a community-wide mask design contest. Please submit an original design in black & white ink only to be printed on a mask.

 

We have extended our submission deadline to October 16th so we can have more participation by our Homewood-Flossmoor School Districts students. Winners will be announced October 23rd on our HAC website and social media channels. The winning mask designs will be printed and sold as a fundraiser at local H-F businesses this fall.

St. Patrick's Day Half Priced Draft Craft Beer for Homewood Arts Council Cup Holders!

Join us at Homewood's newest venue … Culture for the Third Annual ShamRock on Saturday, March 14th at 8 PM. We'll be shamrocking out to the tunes of Not My Dad all night long. Where can I get my cup? 

Cups are for sale at UpsaDaisy Boutique located at 18100 Martin Avenue in Homewood. Cost is $5 (cash only please). UpsaDaisy is open Tuesday through Friday 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday 10 am to 5 pm. 2nd Annual Ho Ho Homewood Pub Crawl

Join us Thursday, December 12th from 7-10 pm for this Festivus-for-the-Rest-of-Us line up of libations. Don your best holiday costumes, strap on your favorite elf ears or reindeer antlers and spend a few hours toasting the season as we raise some funds for the Homewood Arts Council. 

 

Your $30 registration gets you a place in our holiday crawl which includes three free drinks and pizza plus an official HAC event tumbler. First stop is Fifth Quarter for a drink and pizza to fuel up for the rest of the night. At 8 pm we'll walk over to Copper Still for our next celebratory swig. At 9 pm we'll head over to Grape & Grain for our final free refreshment and to finish off the night. 

 

Registrants will meet at Bottle & Bottega in Homewood, 2009 Ridge Road from 6:30-7pm to sign in and receive drink tickets. Prizes will be awarded to the best costumes! Registration is limited to the first 100 signups, so do not delay and register today … Be there or be square, we’re going to have an Elfin’ Good Time!

The Halloween Bash is just a few days away. Get those costumes ready and join us on Saturday, October 26 at 7:30 pm. Remember … basket of "BOO'ze" (booze) to the winner. See you there!

2nd Annual Homewood 0.3K Fund Run!

On Saturday September 21st, from 4 pm-6 pm, we are hosting our 2nd annual 0.3k run. Finally a running event for the rest of us! Underachievers Welcome!

The event will start on Martin Avenue at Hickory Rd and will end in Martin Avenue Square. Run, Walk or Roll 365 Yards. This is a race for everyone! Costumes and silly outfits welcome and awarded. Kickstart the run with a free beer from local favorite Rabid Brewing. If you run out of steam delicious Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee will be available midway at our hydration station for carb loading. End the race at Martin Square with a smooth shot from the drink masters at Copper Still and a slider from White Castle. Hang around for our fun run after-party with all of our sponsors and local band, TiMELeSS . Click here to register. Do it by September 9th to ensure a run T-shirt and SWAG!

Back to the 80s!

Yippee-Ki-Yay Arts community! Bust out your old leg warmers and perm up your hair because the eighties are coming back whether we like it or not! Our next event will be a cabaret style evening reliving your favorite songs from the Glam Rock 80s. Oh, and yes, there will be audience participation! At Ravisloe Country Club from 7:30 to 10 pm on Friday July 26th, nobody is going to put Baby in the corner! Costumes, or your old clothes, are appreciated. Prizes will be awarded to the best dressed. Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra Summer Concerts

Thank You Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra! 
By subscribing to the Homewood Arts Council's website you automatically become a member and are part of our database. The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra is generously donating a portion of each IPO Summer Concert Series subscription to the HAC. Concerts are held at Olympia Fields Country Club throughout the summer. The next event features Bolling Team Jazz with Jeremy Kahn on Wednesday, June 26 at 7:00 pm. Click here for more information.

Homewood Arts Council Gallery Grand Opening!

Finally!! Please join us Thursday, June 6 from 6 to 10 pm for our Open House featuring the professional works of eight local artists. Please join us for this exciting event! Art will be available for purchase. Refreshments served … while they last! 

Homewood Artisan Fair

The Gallery will also be open during the Homewood Artisan Fair on Friday, June 7 from 4 to 9 pm and Saturday, June 8 from 10 am to 6 pm. We'll be selling the Commemorative Homewood Poster created by Kristine Weidenhoefer, an HF arts teacher extraordinary! This limited edition print is something you will cherish for years to come. Cost: $20.

The gallery will now be open every Thursday evening from 6 t0 10 pm. Celebrate our communities many talented artists with a stroll through this creative space. Homewood Arts Council Meet & Greet

Join us on Monday, February 4th (please note change in date due to weather) at 7 pm at Bottle & Bottega (2009 Ridge Road in Homewood) to hear what the new Homewood Arts Council is all about. We'll give you the low down on how we are structured, what we've put in motion to date, what ideas we have brewing and how you can plug in. In the near future, we will be forming some committees and "weekend warrior" teams to tackle the tasks on our list. We are a community of culture and want to continue our love of the arts in the Homewood-Flossmoor area. All ideas welcome! Refreshments will be served.

Ho Ho Homewood Holiday Pub Crawl

Join us on Thursday, December 20th from 6:30-10-:30 for our 1st Annual Festivus-for-the-Rest-of-Us Pub Crawl. Don your best holiday costumes, strap on your favorite elf ears or reindeer antlers and spend a few hours partying with us to raise some funds for the Homewood Arts Council.

 

It’s the most wonderful time of the year so let's spread some cheer for a great cause! Your $40 registration gets you a place in our festive walk/crawl which includes one free drink at Tin Ceiling, Grape & Grain, Copper Still and a drink and pizza at Fifth Quarter! You'll also take home an official HAC plastic tumbler to remember the event. Registrants will meet at Bottle & Bottega Homewood, 2009 Ridge Road between 6-6:30pm to sign in and receive drink tickets. Prizes will be awarded to the best costumes! Registration is limited to the first 100.

Homewood 0.3K Fund Run

On Saturday September 22nd, from 4pm-6:30pm, the Homewood Business Association is holding the first annual 0.3k run. Finally a running event for the rest of us!  Underachievers Welcome!

The September 22nd event will start on Martin Avenue at Hickory Rd and will end in Martin Avenue Square. Run, Walk or Roll 365 Yards. This is a race for everyone.  Costumes and silly outfits welcome and awarded.

Kickstart the run with a free beer from local favorite Rabid Brewing. If you run out of steam delicious Krispy Kreme donuts and Starbucks coffee will be available midway at our hydration station for carb loading. End the race at Martin Square with a smooth vodka/lemonade shot from the drink masters at Copper Still and a slice of Homewood’s very own, Aurelio’s pizza.  Hang around for our fun run after-party with all of our sponsors and our favorite local rockers, Staff Infection.

All proceeds will benefit the new Homewood Arts Council and the Cancer Support Center, all 501(c)(3) organizations.
